The dream of many an avid golfer is to have their own course designed just how they want, to play anytime they’d like on their own property.  Cliff Miller not only accomplished this with The Schoolhouse Nine, built on farmland in Sperryville, Virginia that has been in his family for generations, but he made it available & welcoming for golfers of all types to enjoy.

To help get his course built Cliff reached out to Tom Doak, who recommended Mike McCartin, one of his former shapers, being local to the region & looking for projects of his own.

Mike & Cliff saw eye to eye on the vision of Schoolhouse Nine, and the result is an immensely enjoyable, minimalist, par 27 layout set in the shadows of Shenandoah National Park and makes for a perfect day or overnight trip from the beltway.
