A fixture on the grounds of Langston Golf Course for the past three decades, Ray Savoy’s contributions to golf in DC have been significant.  The DC native is in the US Golf Teachers Federation Hall of Fame and founded the Langston Boys & Girls Golf Club in 1990 despite only coming to the game of golf later in life.  As a younger man, Ray was busy excelling at other sports, having played baseball in the Pirates organization, semi-pro football in the NAFL & competing against the likes of John Thompson & Dave Bing at Mackin Catholic.

Ray can still often be found at Langston, either teaching his students the game or holding court with the regulars that frequent the clubhouse, which is where we sat down and talked through Ray’s life & career in the game.
