Playing golf six times a week is a dream that many who play this game imagine spending their golden years.  DC Native and World War II veteran, Bernie Smoot has been living that dream for over 4 decades now since retiring in 1980. Weather permitting and when not visiting his sister and playing golf in Williamsburg, he can be found at the University of Maryland Golf Course nearly every day of the week.

At 97 years of age, Bernie has seemingly found the secret to longevity in this game.  He reluctantly only started riding a cart at age 91 and has stopped counting how many times he shot his age many years ago.  Mr Smoot was gracious enough to wear a mic during a round and share some of his stories on and off the course.
